General laptop battery problems
New laptop battery not working - Check the laptop battery
is fully charged. New laptop batteries are usually shipped in a discharged
state and must be charged before use. It is recommended that an Li-Ion
laptop battery receives an initial overnight charge (approximately twelve
hours), whereas an NiMH laptop battery requires 24hrs. Refer to your manual
for charging instructions. If not working when fully charged check the
laptop battery is inserted correctly in the laptop.
Laptop shuts down automatically - Check the laptops
Power Management settings, they may be set to turn the laptop off when
the battery reaches a low level.
Laptop battery gets hot - It is normal for the laptop
battery to become very warm to the touch during use. If it becomes too
hot, take the battery out and let it cool down. If the laptop battery
problem persists once it is inserted back into the laptop the battery
could be defective.
Colour of new laptop battery is different to the original
- This is not a problem as long as the laptop battery is definitely the
right model number and the battery ratings match each other.
Lost laptop battery - You should be able to identify
the laptop battery you need from your laptops instruction manual. If not
most suppliers should be able to find the battery from the make and model
of your laptop.
